Cakes for Sendai – VSI London Japan fundraising

We would like to thank everyone who attended VSI London’s Cakes for Sendai event.

The event was held on the 10th of April at our London office and hosted
by our Japanese department, to raise money to help people in Miyagi
Prefecture, which includes the town of Sendai, our Japanese colleague, Risa’s, hometown. This area was one of the worst affected by the tsunami in Japan last month.

Over 220 people attended our tea and cake event, which was sponsored by VSI, and kindly supported by the Cake Committee and Postcard Teas, and other generous donors and we are proud to have raised over £5,488. All the money was sent to the Donations to Disaster Victims account, which is regulated by the Social Welfare Division, part of the Miyagi Prefectural Government. For further information please go to the Miyagi Prefectural Government website.

Risa is back in Sendai over Easter to do volunteer work. Her report can be seen on her Cake for Sendai™ blog (http://cakes4sendai.blogspot.com/).
