SUBTITLING FOR TELEVISION, DVD, VIDEO, INTERNET AND TV TRANSLATION SERVICES

base

Subtitling more than 25,000 hours of material into over 40 languages each year is no mean feat, but at VSI, our long experience in subtitling for broadcast, DVD, home-video and new media means we take it in our stride. With our established reputation for quality, efficiency and competitive pricing, we are proud to be Europe's leading subtitling company.

Broadcast & corporate programmes
Experience is essential, and VSI has plenty of it. We have subtitled all types of programming: movies, documentaries, sports broadcasting, high-level corporate presentations, training and public information films, and pretty much anything else you can think of. Large volumes of programming in single or multiple languages are a matter of routine for us, and our team of project managers carefully oversee the production process at every stage.

We operate a number of different subtitling systems, together with a variety of character generators, and can deliver subtitles in almost any file format, or burnt in on tape, in virtually any font, colour, size or layout.

DVD
VSI has been subtitling for DVD since the early days of the format. We can supply subtitle files compatible with any professional DVD authoring system or your DVD can be authored in our in-house facility. Working with our overseas offices, we can handle multi-language projects of all sizes and budgets and work to tight deadlines whilst maintaining our strict QC procedures.

New media
In response to the ever-growing market for online web-streaming and mobile phone downloads, VSI can now offer tapeless subtitling. We can create SAMI subtitles in practically any language, and are currently supplying this subtitle format for several major European clients.

SAMI subtitles are hugely advantageous for showing international video projects to a multi-lingual audience over the internet or a local area network. The main advantage of this technology is that only one video file is needed, no matter how many different language versions are required, thus saving cost in production and minimising bandwidth, hosting space and the risk of file indiscretion. SAMI subtitles appear below the picture so they do not obstruct any part of the image, essential for videos streamed on the web, which are often greatly compressed to reduce bandwidth and download time. As SAMI subtitles use software already installed on most computers, such as Windows Media Player, they are the ideal new media subtitling format.

HD
VSI's awareness of the rapid change in technology has led to us investing in HD systems. We are currently working side by side with developers to provide solutions for all your HD subtitling needs.

Deaf & hard of hearing
VSI provides subtitles for the deaf and hard of hearing community, conforming to Ofcom standards. We have experience in a wide range of genres, including children's programmes, where particular consideration is given to the reading age of the target audience.
